Effective 10 August 2026 · ChosenRole is operated by Dasby Web Design, California, USA.
The short version
You give us your career history so we can help you write about it. We store it, we send parts of it to an AI provider to generate wording, and we do not sell it, rent it, or use it to train anyone’s models. You can delete it, and deletion means deletion.
What we collect
Only what the product needs to work:
- Account: your name, email address, and a hashed password. We never store your password itself.
- Career facts: employers, job titles, dates, achievements, education, skills, certifications, and the contact details you put on a resume — city and state, phone, email, LinkedIn URL. We ask for city and state, never a street address.
- Uploads: resumes you upload. We extract the text to suggest facts; you approve or reject each one.
- Job search activity: postings you save, applications, interviews, offers, contacts and notes you record.
- Usage records: each AI request’s model, token counts and cost, so we can meter plans and investigate faults; an audit log of significant actions; and problem reports you submit.
We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics, and we do not build a profile of you for marketing.
Who else sees it
Four processors, each doing one job. We do not sell or share your data with anyone else.
- Anthropic — generates and rewrites text. The facts relevant to a request, the posting text, and your resume content are sent to produce that output. Anthropic does not train its models on data submitted through its API.
- Neon — hosts the database your data lives in.
- Vercel — runs and serves the application.
- Resend — sends email, where email is enabled.
If we ever add a payment provider, it will collect card details on its own systems. ChosenRole will never see or store your card number.
What we never do
- Sell or rent your personal information. We have never done this and will not.
- Use your career history to train AI models.
- Send your resume to an employer or recruiter without you choosing to, case by case.
- Publish anything about you.
- Store audio. Practice interview answers can be spoken, and the recording stays in your browser — it is never uploaded, and there is nowhere in our database it could go. Only text you submit is ever sent to us.
Practice interview answers
Off unless you turn it on. If you switch on practice history in Settings, we keep the question, the text of your answer, and the score, so you can see whether you are improving. Text only, never audio. You can delete any single answer or all of them at any time, and turning the setting off deletes everything already saved.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. Delete your account and your profile, facts, resumes, uploads, applications and related records are removed from the live database; encrypted backups roll off within 30 days. Audit and billing records may be retained where the law requires it.
Your rights
You can see, correct, export or delete your information at any time. Export and account deletion are both in Settings and take effect immediately — the export is a single file of everything we hold, and deletion is permanent with no grace period and nothing retained. California residents have specific rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including access, deletion, correction, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined there, so there is nothing to opt out of.
To make a request, email privacy@chosenrole.com. We will respond within 45 days.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no agreed standard for how a site should answer one, so we do not respond to it. That makes no practical difference here: we do not track you across other websites, we run no advertising trackers, and we use no third-party analytics, so there is no cross-site tracking to switch off.
Do we sell or share your information?
No. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined by California law. Because there is nothing to opt out of, we do not show a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link. If that ever changes, the link will appear here and on every page before any such use begins.
Sending your content to our AI provider so it can produce the document you asked for is processing on our instructions, not a sale or a share.
Accessibility
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 AA. If any part of ChosenRole is hard to use with a screen reader, a keyboard, or any other assistive technology, email support@chosenrole.com and tell us what you were trying to do. We will fix it and reply with what changed.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit and data is encrypted at rest by our database provider. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Access to production data is limited to what operating the service requires. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you.
Children
ChosenRole is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that materially affects you, we will say so in the app before it takes effect, rather than quietly changing the date at the top.
