A resume that only says true things.
Every other builder will write you a resume. The question nobody asks is whether the resume is true. ChosenRole keeps a verified record of what you actually did, and the AI can only write from it. It will push you hard to remember more — it will not invent a single number on your behalf.

About that AI number. Editing, every template, and PDF and Word export are unlimited on both plans — the count is only the things that call a model: grading, Auto-Improve, tailoring, the interview, the assistant. Forty is roughly twice what building one resume carefully takes, and it comes back every month, so the free plan is not a trial with a longer fuse. It exists because there is one AI budget for everyone and an unmetered free plan spends it on behalf of people who paid.
There is no third tier, no annual lock-in and no add-ons. There used to be a middle plan at $30 a year, and the argument for it was decent — a finished resume is not something you should rent. It went because you should not have to work out which of three things you are, and because a free plan is only meaningful if it is genuinely finished rather than a corridor into the next price.
Where we actually differ
The AI cannot make things up
Every builder on this page generates bullets. Ours can only rephrase, reorder, and sharpen facts you have verified. When a bullet is begging for a number, it asks you for the real one instead of inventing a plausible one. That is a hard architectural limit, not a prompt asking the model to behave.
It pushes you to remember what you undersold
Most people’s resumes are wrong in the other direction: everything on them is true, and half of what they did is missing. The interview asks the questions a good coach would — what was the biggest deal, who did you train, what broke and how did you fix it — and folds your answers in once you confirm them.
We tell you the truth about ATS
Colour and typeface do not affect parsing. Layout does. So colour and font are free on every plan, and the templates that carry real parse risk are labelled as such — including the ones we would rather sell you.
How the others compare
We used to list their prices here. We took them out, because they change constantly and we found one of ours was already wrong. Check their own pages for what they cost today. What is below is what each one gates and where it stops, which moves slowly enough to state honestly.
| Product | What you get free | Where it stops |
|---|---|---|
| ChosenRole | One complete resume: unlimited facts, AI writing, grading, unwatermarked PDF and DOCX | A second resume, the full template set, and the search tools are paid |
| Teal | Unlimited resumes and job tracking, 10 templates, top-5 keywords, a one-time allotment of AI credits (10 bullets, 2 summaries, 2 cover letters) | Once the starter AI credits are gone, every further rewrite needs Teal+. No annual plan, and weekly billing runs to roughly $676/year. |
| Jobscan | 5 resume scans per month | Scores your resume against a posting but does not hold your career history. Its one-click optimize is premium-only. |
| Kickresume | 5 ATS scans per month, 4 templates, unlimited downloads | Generous free scanning, but the AI writer will happily produce claims you never made. |
| Enhancv | No free tier — a 7-day trial only | Design-led. Many of its best-looking templates are multi-column, which is the one thing that genuinely risks parsing. |
| Resume Worded | A general resume grade | Scores your resume and reviews your LinkedIn, and its Targeted Resume does compare you against a specific posting. It does not keep a verified record of your career or track your applications. |
Read that table honestly: if all you need is a free ATS score against one posting, Kickresume gives you five scans a month and Jobscan gives you five, and you do not need us. What none of them do is keep a verified record of your career and refuse to write beyond it.
Can free get you far?
Yes, and we would rather say so. Free gives you one complete resume — a verified profile, AI writing that cannot invent anything, the grade and its fixes, and an unwatermarked PDF or Word file that is yours to keep. People get hired on exactly that, and if it is all you need then that is all you should pay for. The $30 is worth paying while you are actually running a search, and it should stop the month you stop. Nothing you have written is deleted when it does.
